Detailed description of project :

Global Objective :

Improve the living conditions of the local population and the agro ecological balance in the 5 Northern regions affected by the conflict.

Specific Objective :

  • Secure the market and increase the income by training people to make benefit from cashew nut chain
  • Diversify and increase employment thanks to the development of an handcraft husking chain and of the local consumption
  • Implement a new strategy based on an industrial husking national policy

Implementation and main expected results :

  • 200 leaders and extension workers trained in 4 Northern regions
  • 200 women and young people trained on processing and on marketing techniques 
  • Revenues increased up to EUR 35 millions/year in the region
  • Better protection of soil against erosion thanks to tree planting
  • Disparities between North and South reduced

  • Training on cashew nut chain management and quality 
  • Technical assistance on handcraft husking and distribution techniques
  • Cooperation Aid between public and private operators
